Climate active
Evaluation Criteria
Klimaaktiv shares and disseminates practical knowledge on climate protection, covering topics such as energy efficiency, climate-resilient buildings, renewable energy sources, climate communication, active mobility, and mobility management.
Climate Change and Adaptation
Focus on climate-resilient locations, biodiversity, and heat protection
Energy and Utilities
High energy efficiency and the complete elimination of fossil fuels.
Resources and the Circular Economy
Environmentally responsible material selection and recyclability.
Comfort and Health
Optimal indoor air quality, natural light, and thermal comfort.
Advantages
A Higher Quality of Life
An excellent, certified “klimaaktiv” building standard guarantees well-designed ventilation systems, comfortable temperatures in both summer and winter, and the avoidance of building materials containing harmful substances.
Lower costs
Thanks to maximum energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy, heating and operating costs are reduced dramatically.
Financial Support
Attractive federal and state subsidies are available for renovations, heating system replacements, or electric mobility, and in some states (such as Tyrol), Klimaaktiv certificates provide additional incentives.
Active Environmental Protection
Both individuals and large companies (as part of the klimaaktiv Pact) are significantly reducing their CO₂ emissions.
"Klimaaktiv" Building Standard
One of Europe’s most successful certification programs for sustainable, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly construction and renovation.
Levels of Certification
• Gold
All mandatory criteria are met, and a score of at least 900 points is achieved.
• Silver
All mandatory criteria are met, and a score of at least 750 points is achieved.
• Bronze
All klimaaktiv mandatory criteria (minimum requirements) are met.
The Four Levels of Declaration
To ensure quality throughout the entire life cycle, the evaluation can take place during the following phases
• Planning
Qualitative assessment of the design at an early stage.
• Planning with a renovation roadmap
Specifically for renovations, to determine optimization steps.
• Completion
Verification and evaluation based on actual implementation.
• Use
Inspection and declaration during operation.
