The EU Taxonomy Regulation creates a clear framework for the concept of sustainability and defines a common classification system for sustainable economic activities.
Achieving the overarching goal of a climate-neutral EU by 2050 by investing in sustainable projects and activities.
Taxonomy-compliant economic activities make a significant contribution to at least one of the aforementioned environmental goals:
- Climate change mitigation
- Climate change adaptation
- Sustainable use and protection of water and marine resources
- Transition to a circular economy
- Prevention and reduction of environmental pollution
- Protection and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems
In addition, the following criteria must be met:
- DNSH Do No Significant Harm – No significant harm to the other environmental objectives; one taxonomy objective must not be achieved at the expense of another.
- Consideration of certain minimum protection criteria – Ensuring and complying with certain minimum social protection standards
